Orlando Squadron Burgee

Orlando Squadron Burgee Heraldry

Blue was selected as a background and the metal silver was used for the design of our burgee. A life ring signifies safety in boating, a primary purpose of USPS. To get away from the appearance of a flag with a hole in it, a simple vertical chevron wa s added. This was taken from the Army sleeve insignia and denotes a first class organization. Orlando is proud of their "First Class" safe boating group and it has been a vital part of safer boating in central Florida.

Seminole Squadron Burgee

Seminole Squadron Burgee Heraldry

Our pennant consists of the head of Chief Osceola in red, facing aft to ghree lightning bolts in blue on a white pennant. Osceola was the best known of the Seminole Indian Chiefs, whence comes the name of Seminole County and the designated name of our Squadron. The lightening bolts represent the common occurrence of severe electric storms along the St. Johns River, which forms the Eastern boundary of Seminole County. The seven feathers on Osceola' s head and the three lightning bolts are intended t o indicate '73, the year in which we hoped to become a full-fledged Squadron of USPS.
